RSV Gate Valves

Product Range

RSV Gate Valves

Resilient seated gate valves are the standard isolation valve for buried water and sewage networks. AFC Valves Europe supplies the full RSV range (ductile iron body, fusion-bonded epoxy coated inside and out, stainless stem, EPDM-coated wedge) to EN 1074-2 with WRAS, FM and UL approvals. Sizes DN40 to DN600.

About RSV Gate Valves

Resilient seated gate valves are the universal isolation valve for buried water distribution and sewage networks. Specified by water utilities, municipal authorities and pipeline contractors across Europe, the RSV combines the full-bore flow path required for pigging and swabbing operations with robust, corrosion-resistant construction suited to long service lives underground. The wedge gate design provides positive mechanical shut-off, and the EPDM coating on the disc and seat ensures bubble-tight closure across the full operating pressure range.

The AFC Valves Europe RSV range is manufactured to EN 1074-2, the European standard for isolation valves in water supply systems. The body and bonnet are ductile iron to EN-GJS-500-7, fusion-bonded epoxy coated inside and out to a minimum of 250 microns. The stem is stainless steel grade 1.4401 and the gland packing is self-adjusting NBR, eliminating the routine repacking required on older cast iron designs. The fully encapsulated EPDM wedge provides protection against corrosion in aggressive soils and variable water chemistry.

End connections are flanged to EN 1092-2, allowing direct connection to ductile iron pipework to ISO 2531, with matching bolt circle diameters for connection to steel, PVC-U and GRP pipes using appropriate adaptors. The range covers DN40 to DN600 in PN10 and PN16 pressure ratings. Extension spindles, surface boxes and key extensions are available for buried or recessed installations.

Gate valves are available in non-rising stem (NRS) and outside screw and yoke (OS&Y) configurations. NRS valves are the standard choice for buried service where headroom is limited and a visual open/closed indication is not required. OS&Y valves, where the stem rises on opening, provide a clear visual indication of valve position and are used in above-ground installations such as pump stations, valve chambers and water treatment works.

FM Approved and UL Listed variants are available for fire protection system applications. These carry the Factory Mutual and Underwriters Laboratories marks required by insurance underwriters and sprinkler system designers for compliant fire protection installations. WRAS approval covers the full range for drinking water service in the UK and Ireland.

Our gate valve range is available from stock in common sizes. We supply valves individually for maintenance and replacement duty and in full project schedules for new main installation and network rehabilitation. Pricing reflects quantity and we can typically respond to a gate valve schedule within one working day.
